I have been a pacifist for at least 70 years. When I became old enough to think for myself I took the position that all war was wrong and could not be justified on any grounds. Being a Quaker probably had some influence on me taking that position since I knew that the founder of the Society of Friends, George Fox, stood against war in a time when England was in terrible turmoil.
I have been called all the names that are in the book, so I'm too old to be affected by them anymore. Un-American, coward, plus many others we won't mention.
Since I proclaim to be a Christian, I can't do anything that I think would be contrary to the will and teaching of Christ. He certainly made it crystal clear in the Gospels that we are supposed to love our enemies. I consider killing them totally opposed to those teachings. Mahatma Ghandi said that Christians should practice what Jesus taught. He was a Hindu who practiced non-violence the way it should be lived. Martin Luther King, Jr was another man who practiced non-violence in a violent world.
Of all the wars that have been fought through the years, nothing has ever been solved by them. When they are over people have to sit down at the table and discuss their problems and search for solutions.
War is not the answer! I am amazed that our President can suggest that the Israeli's and the Palestinians, and the Indian and Pakistan peoples should sit down at the table and not interupt our WAR! Interesting, isn't it?
That's it for today.
I want tell you just a little about myself to begin this web site. I am an 91 year old retired Friends minister who is a confirmed peace lover. I am convinced that war is totally wrong and will never solve any of our world's problems. I wanted to have this site to publish my views and provide a forum for others to present their ideas on this subject also.
